Wellbeing Wednesday Trip – Lilac Farm Permission Form

Dear Parent/Carer,

Wellbeing Wednesday Lilac Farm Trip

Our fruit trees at school this year are laden with apples and pears due to the hot and sunny Spring and Summer we have had. In order to make use of them, I have arranged for the first Wellbeing Wednesday session of the year to be a visit to a local farm in Collingham on Wednesday 24th September to make fruit juice.

Lilac Farm is an arable farm growing a number of crops including wheat, barley and rape seed oil and in the Autumn months they also offer apple/pear pressing using traditional methods. On the trip, pupils will visit the farmer’s orchard where they will learn how fruit trees come to bare fruit and collect any windfall fruit on the floor. These will then be added to school’s fruit to be washed, milled and then pressed. Children will have the opportunity to taste the product before it is sent away to be pasteurised and then sold at school for our school community to enjoy.

For the trip, please ensure children are appropriately dressed for the weather. As we will be outside for the morning, we recommend tracksuit bottoms or outdoor trousers, a jumper, warm jacket/fleece, thick warm socks, wellies/sturdy walking boots, and a waterproof coat with hood.

The trip will run in the morning with pupils leaving school on our minibus just after 9am and returning approximately at 11:45 so they can have their usual lunchtime routines.

As we are using the school minibus, please complete the form below to give consent for your child to take part.

Yours faithfully,

Mr. S Gamble
