Climate Justice Workshop – Y4 – 21st June 2022

Monday 13th June 2022

Leeds Trinity University

Dear Parent/Carer,

Some students in Year 4 have been incredibly lucky to be invited by Leeds Trinity University in Horsforth to participate in a Climate Justice day. This will take place on Tuesday 21st June 2022.

The children have worked hard at school in recent weeks to prepare for the visit, and have researched and created their own project to display at the workshop. They will get chance to observe other schools’ projects and showcase their own, all about the big question that they have chosen: Why are the countries producing the least emissions most affected by climate change?

The whole session will be about celebrating all things science, raising Science Capital and getting the children to experience different types of scientific enquiry. The session will provide the children with a wonderful opportunity to experience a university and give them a brilliant opportunity to present and develop their public speaking.

Pupils will be transported to and from the university in the school minibus. They will leave school at approximately 9:15am and return at 12:15pm.

All groups will be in school at lunchtime so our usual lunchtime routines can take place. Therefore, no additional arrangements are required. If your child is on packed lunches, please provide one and if your child is on school meals, they will receive one. Children may take a water bottle with them on the trip so may require a bag/rucksack to put them in. Children must also be in full school uniform. Please ensure they are clearly labelled.

Please sign the permission slip attached to this letter so that your child can attend the trip. Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully,
