Proposed LKS2 Trip in May 2026
At Cookridge, we aim to supplement our teaching curriculum with inspirational trips and visitors which deepen and broaden pupils’ understanding by providing experiences which we simply cannot replicate in school ourselves. However, we are also aware of the rising costs of trips, on top of the price increases happening in all areas of life. In the Summer Term, we are learning about the Vikings and we have already booked a two day Viking experience workshop in school for late June (cost will be £10 per pupil) to ‘end’ our topic whilst the Year 4 pupils are going to Elland Road as part of their PSHE work in late May (cost will be approximately £6.50) and we are also aware of the cost of the Year 4 residential, plus the Armley Mills trip earlier in the year. Two years ago, to ‘launch’ our topic, pupils in Years 3 and 4 visited Jorvik in York for a day for three Viking workshops on different aspects of their lives and the impact they had on Britain and the local area. In 2024 when we went, the cost was £20 and we have just been quoted £25 on Friday 1st May 2026 for the same trip. Given the trips and Viking experience days already booked and the costs associated with them, we thought we would ask you whether you would be prepared to pay £25 for the trip to York in early May on top of everything else. Please indicate your response on the form below. The form closes on Thursday 8th January and, if the majority would pay it, then we will book the trip. If the majority would not, we will not go. Thanks for your understanding. The LKS2 team.
