Leeds Symphony Orchestra – free concert for children

25/01/2020 to 25/01/2020 3:00pm to 4:30pm

Every year Leeds Symphony Orchestra performs an annual concert for children, tailored to the 7-13 age group.  This year’s concert  is being given on Saturday, January 25th, 2020 at 15:00-16:30 at Horsforth School, Leeds LS18 5RF.  Attendance at the concert is free, but because there is a limit on numbers, tickets must be booked through Eventbrite  https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/leeds-symphony-orchestra-childrens-concert-tickets-88402601561. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The opportunity for children to see a full symphony orchestra in action is comparatively rare, and the experience of it far exceeds seeing one on TV or listening to a recording.  The music being performed is carefully chosen to be accessible for younger people, and includes music from films and television and well-known classics.  The concert is compered by Vicki Elliot, one of our members, who also teaches music to key stages 3 and 4.  There will be interactive quizzes for the children, an opportunity to conduct the orchestra and demonstrations of the different instruments and sections that make up an orchestra.

Mrs Durrant will be playing her flute and piccolo at the concert and she’d love to see some Cookridge faces in the audience!
