Class 4 – Forest School

We began our session by discussing advances in technology from the Stone Age to the Iron Age and compared improvements in housing, clothing, tools and weaponry. After making simple bows and arrows during Stone Age, pupils were tasked with using tools to create improved bows and arrows thinking about certain aspects of design. Safely using a variety of tools including bow saws, secateurs, loppers and whittling knives, pupils created hunting weapons which were far superior to those made on Stone Age. To finish our session, we reviewed and reflected on our sessions and decided the most important outcome was the resilience, teamwork and cooperate on show as well as thirty pupils using a range of tools for over an hour with no first aid! What a great job at taking risks and learning new skills whilst ensuring they kept themselves and each other safe!
