Class 5 Museum trip!

Class 5 had a brilliant time at Leeds City Museum yesterday morning! They took part in several activities which enhanced their learning about the Ancient Egyptians. Firstly, we walked around the Ancient Worlds Gallery, searching for Egyptian artefacts and having a go at sketching things we found, such as Egyptian jewellery and amulets. Then we went to look at a real life Egyptian mummy, which is thousands of years old! We particularly enjoyed spotting the hieroglyphics on the mummy’s coffin. Then, we talked about how the Egyptians mummified the deceased. We worked in groups to mummify a doll, which involved pulling out it’s organs and wrapping it in bandages! Overall we learned a huge amount and had a lot of fun! The behaviour of the children was excellent, they really did Cookridge proud.
