We have had a super first week back in Reception!

In phonics we have be looking at the sounds ‘w’ and ‘x’. We sorted pictures by their initial sound and also used letters to make labels for a selection of pictures. Later in the week we practised our formation and had a go at writing our own sentences. In maths we started the week comparing the height of the different bean plants brought back in and the children really enjoying sharing their bean diaries with their family groups. The beans and bean diaries are now yours to keep. As the week went on we focused on improving our number recognition and counting skills by playing hopscotch and snap!

On Wednesday we had a forest schools session and the children enjoyed working outside to form letters using their own mud paint, create numbers using sticks, say hello to the chickens and eat popcorn around the fire.

Next week it is PE on Tuesday.

Wellies will not be needed next week as we will be on the playground at lunchtime not the field.

We have had a number of queries this week about uniform. Please refer to the uniform page on the website to see what is appropriate to wear in school and if it’s not shown on there then it shouldn’t be worn.

Have a lovely weekend in the sunshine!
