LKS2 – RE

Yesterday in RE, the children used their understanding about rituals and celebrations to debate. First, they decided their class rules for debating so that a safe and support environment was created for differences of opinions. Then, the children were given a scenario about a teacher creating her own festival and requesting a day off school. They considered what made traditions traditional; whether a celebration had to be religious for it to be worthy of time off school; and who decided how important celebrations are. The children had a rich debate, where they all shared and justified their opinions.
