UKS2 – Newsletter – 03.03.2023

It has been a very busy week in UKS2.

In English, Year 5 roleplayed the Battle of Hastings on the playground. The children began to develop an understanding of the battle tactics used by Harold Godwinson and William, Duke of Normandy in the fabled battle. Then, they generated quotes and sentences using emotive language to express how the soldiers would have felt.

In Forest School, UKS2 developed their weaving and knotting skills in an effort to create their Anglo-Saxon belts. Braving wet and windy conditions, the children came up with their own weave designs and had a go at creating a strong continuous piece of material. Next session, they will be putting this into further practise by attempting to weave and knot and waistband for their belts. Well done everyone!

In computing, using the Ino-Bots, pupils were challenged with coding their bot to navigate through a maze. At varying locations the bot then had to make lights flash and play a sound. Pupils used their understanding of measure and angles to ensure the bot didn’t touch the white lines and complete the maze successfully.
