UKS2 – Newsletter – 09.09.22

It has been a fantastic first week back in UKS2. It has been wonderful to see everyone again after the summer holidays.

On Tuesday, we completed our first MindMate lesson of the year. In a discussion based session, the children focused on ‘feeling good and being me’. They discussed the impact of their behaviour and how it can affect people around them. Then, they discussed scenarios in which their behaviour had influenced someone else. The children were respectful and diligent in their responses, and came up with some fantastic ideas to help make sure people around them are safe and happy. Well done everyone!

On Wednesday, UKS2 completed their first science lesson of the term. Focusing on working scientifically, the children were tasked with identifying the key variables in an experiment that measured the height of a bouncing ball. Once they had established the variables, they had to come up with their own scientific method to complete the experiment, ensuring it was a fair test. The children came up with some brilliant suggestions on how to improve their method, and showed a good understanding of the importance of a fair test.

Finally, our learnatics this week are: Jake and Josh (Class 8), Ayrton and Malk (Class 9) & Nza and Kate (Class 10).

Ooh, ahh, you’re a star!!

You are all amazing, well done! Keep up the good work.

On Monday, we have our first cross curricular day. Children must come to school in Forest School clothing. Have a great weekend.
