UKS2 – Newsletter – 16/10/2020
It has been an action-packed week in UKS2.
On Monday UKS2 completed a full cross-curricular day based around our science topic; ‘Evolution and Inheritance’.
In Forest School, the children explored the adaptations of the plant life and domestic animals present in the school grounds. They also engaged in scientific discussions, focusing on specific characteristics and traits of the plants and animals they investigated.
In science, the children were asked to design their own ‘ultimate predator’ for a biome of their choosing. Pupils had to design, draw and explain their choices, ensuring that their predator could survive and thrive in their chosen environment.
On Wednesday, Class 10 had a science lesson on inheritance. Pupils were challenged with sorting the UKS2 staff and their family members into the correct groups. They used their understanding of inheritance to find similar characteristics in order to group the correct people. From this, they then attempted to build each family tree! Class 8 and 9 will complete this task in science next week.
In French, Class 8 and 9 were exploring the names of the colours. The children were asked to fill in a blank paint pallet, using the correct name for each paint sample. After that, they were challenged to recall the colours using the correct word and pronunciation in a series of games.
Finally, this weeks learnatics are: Isobel and Lilly (Class 8), Jessica L and Charles (Class 9) Bryn and Ruby (Class 10).
All of these children have displayed exemplary behaviour, a positive attitude and going above and beyond for their class community. Well done all of you, keep up the hard work.
Ooh Aah, you’re a star!!
