UKS2 – Newsletter – 28.02.2020

Wow! What an incredible week we have had in UKS2!

In maths, Mr Kershaw’s group have been using coordinates to plot points on a four quadrant grid. We explored the different jobs and hobbies that require coordinates before putting our skills to the test in a class tournament of ‘Battleships’. This demonstrated our excellent understanding of this concept in Year 6!

Today in class, pupils have been researching the planet of their choice using laptops, books and videos. All students generated as much information as possible about their planet; this included things such as the planet’s atmosphere, how many moons the planet has, tectonic features as well as other interesting facts!

This week in geography, UKS2 have been looking at contour lines on Ordnance Survey maps. They have studied how contour lines can give us a detailed description of how the land changes and why this is important for a whole range of jobs and activities. Pupils were then given the chance to create their own mountain using contour lines.
