Y5 – Toffee Apples – Forest School

Today Year 5 completed their series of lessons on campfire cooking by creating toffee apples. First, teams had to peel and skewer their apples and make a delicious mix of brown sugar and a sprinkling of cinnamon for flavouring. Once fires were hot enough, pupils then roasted their apples until they were hot before rolling and covering them in the toffee mix. Once covered, children then returned their apples to the fire to melt the sugary mix. Finally, teams enjoyed tucking into a delicious treat as we discussed the history of toffee apples and the time of year they are popular.
