80th Anniversary of VE Day – Whole School
Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day at Cookridge Primary School.
This week, our school has come together to mark a very special occasion – the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, is celebrated on May 8th and marks the end of World War II in Europe in 1945. It’s a time to remember the bravery and sacrifices of those who lived through the war and to reflect on the importance of peace and unity.
As part of our learning across the school, pupils from all year groups have taken part in activities to help them understand the significance of this historical event. From storytelling and history lessons to discussions about the lives of people during the war, children have shown great curiosity and respect for this important part of our past.
To commemorate the occasion, every child has had a go at designing and making their very own piece of VE Day bunting. These beautiful, thoughtful creations are now proudly displayed throughout the school, creating a vibrant tribute to mark 80 years since this momentous day. The bunting serves as a reminder of the importance of remembrance, resilience, and community spirit.
