Year 6 – Skills Session – Forest School
As Year 6 near the end of their time with us, pupils were tasked with using a variety of skills in Forest School today. Children could use their knowledge and skills of knots to erect shelters using the Bowline and Prusik knots, or put up a hammock using the sliding knot. Children could also use den buildings sticks, tarps and rope to create their own dens. Finally, and in preparation for their next session with Mr Gamble where they are hoping to cook sausage sandwiches, children could use a range of tools to create a butter knife out of freshly cut hazel. Pupils used loppers, bowsaws and whittling knives to help shape the piece of wood into the desired shape before using sandpaper to ensure it was smooth. We left them to dry in the poly tunnel for two weeks where they will be used to butter the bread rolls. Well done Year 6!
