EYFS – Forest School
In Forest School today, the sessions focused around a special date in our calendar year – Bonfire Night! After discussing their previous experiences of the 5th November, pupils listened to the story of how Guy Fawkes tried to blow up King James I in the Houses of Parliament. Children then explored the senses of Bonfire Night and we talked about everything they can hear, see, touch, taste and smell if they were to visit a bonfire event. This led us onto creating our very own Forest School sparklers using sticks and coloured ribbons for the sparks. Children had to find a way to attach the ribbons at one end without them sliding down or falling off to make sure their sparkler was safe to use. Tying knots wasn’t easy but when some children cracked it, they shared their learning, knowledge and skills with others to help them. To finish the session, Mr Gamble read another story, this time called Sparks in the Sky and children joined in with the actions; waving their sparklers to make patterns, draw animals and even write their name! Well done Reception.
