Year 3 – Class 4 & 5 – Maths

This week, Year 3 have been working on adding and subtracting a 1’s, 10’s or 100’s number from a 3 digit number using their mental maths strategies. To do this, we had to understand which place value column we needed to look at in order to subtract/add. Then, we used our knowledge of numbers to help us do this. For example, if we know that 5 + 2 = 7, we know the 156 + 20 = 176. To start the week off, we played different games that involved adding and subtracting a 1’s number. These were lots of fun and really go us thinking!
