In phonics this half term, Year 2 have been learning about ‘ey’ saying ‘ee’ and ‘o’ saying ‘u’. We’ve played lots of games to help us read and spell words containing these sounds. Bingo was a crowed pleaser and the children showed they could apply the new sounds to words in sentences.
Alongside this, we have completed a range of activities around suffixes, focusing on adding -ed, -er, -est – y and -ing to words ending in ‘y’ and how this might change the spellings.
