Wellbeing Forest School – 10.6.26

Dodging the showers, pupils in the Forest School wellbeing groups had a great time outside in our wooded area. To begin with, they revisited their knowledge of loose parts before setting off on a task to collect as many loose parts as they could which had different features. After returning with items of varying colours, shapes, sizes and textures, children then explored our area for animals. They were amazed to find a large number of woodlice, ants, worms and centipedes and were extremely respectful of the animals and their habitats when on their search. Finally, children were tasked with combining their loose parts with the animals they had spotted to either recreate an animal they’d seen or create their own new one using clay. Children had to be creative, resilient and communicate well when sharing their animal and its features at the end of the session. The second group spent their time on a task which will benefit not just the whole school, but our 9 chicks that hatched in Reception in April. Pupils got to work on assessing and repairing one of the animal enclosures we have in preparation for the chicks moving outside. We discussed the importance of assessing for damage carefully, learnt techniques for repairing holes and worked together to ensure the job was done to a high standard. Well done everyone and we are looking forward to seeing the chicks in this space next week!
