KS1 – World Mental Health Day – Forest School – 6/10/26
On Friday, it is World Mental Health Day 2026. To celebrate this, Key Stage One pupils have enjoyed a day of Forest School activities based on promoting the importance of mental health and wellbeing and how being outdoors in nature can help. Known as ‘Yellow Day,’ the theme for World Mental Health Day this year is sunflowers. First, pupils were tasked to create a sunflower using loose parts on a tarp or the floor. Children had the opportunity to create a yellow inspired bracelet or crown using yellow loose parts found on the school field and playing amongst the trees, focusing on the positive impact nature can have on our feelings. We ended the session with a calming activity. Children were tasked to find a stick, find it’s balancing point and balance it on a finger. If successful, children were tasked to walk in between objects, around objects and in zig zag lines, challenging their patience, resilience and concentration skills.
