Children in Y1 learned the song ‘Sally go round the sun’ which they sang holding on to scarves and turning in a circle. At the end of the song, we jump up and change direction. This song helps to reinforce the steady beat as we walk to the pulse of the music. By changing direction we develop a feel for the length of the musical phrase. We then enjoyed dancing to songs with body percussion patterns before creating our own pattern using stomp, pat knees and clap.
