KS1 – Drawing and Painting A – Art – 6.10.26

Today in KS1 Art, the children created observational drawings of animals. They carefully studied key features and used simple shapes to sketch the animals before adding details such as eyes, fur, and patterns. The children also experimented with different lines and marks to show texture and took time to review and improve their drawings. It was wonderful to see them apply the drawing skills they have practised in previous lessons and develop their confidence as young artists. At times it was a challenge but we spoke about how if it was easy then that would mean we had already mastered the skill. We talked about how learning a new skill can feel uncomfortable but that it is important to persevere, which they did! They should feel very proud of themselves. To celebrate their achievements, the children conducted a ‘gallery walk’, where they looked at each others pieces and discussed the final outcome.
