Covid Outbreak Plan for Year 5/6

Dear Parent/Carers

Following on from the notification sent out this morning regarding Covid cases in school, we are now aware of further cases in the Year 5/6 cohort. Having spoken to the local authority, we are now going to have to implement our Covid outbreak plan for these pupils only.

The measures are temporary and are being put in place to try limit any further cases and prevent having to move to remote learning.

We have already explained to the children what changes we are having to make and the reasons why.

Some of the changes we are implementing reflect what we have done historically when children were in class bubbles.

The changes for Year 5/6 only are:-

  • Moving back into class bubbles (including break and lunchtimes).
  • Sitting in rows
  • Individual resources
  • Lunches eaten in classrooms
  • Staff wearing masks in the classrooms
  • Masks are available for pupils should they wish to wear them
  • All Year 5/6  after school sports clubs are cancelled for the next two weeks
  • Beehive will remain available for parents but will be operating a bubble system.
  • Weardale parents evening will move online (details to follow)

Please continue to test using lateral flow tests twice weekly (these are available free at most pharmacies).

If your child is exhibiting any of the symptoms below please do not send them into school and book a PCR test ensuring you let school know the results asap.

  • A high temperature
  • A new continuous cough
  • A loss of change to your sense of taste or smell

Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation
