EYFS – Foods of the World Event
On Thursday, as a fun way to end our Around The World topic, we have held our Foods Around the World celebration event. The children have loved getting to know all about the world we live in, and so we thought it would be nice to try making some different foods from countries around the world. To do this we split into four kitchens, with each producing their own dish to share with the class and all our family members. The children all began by washing their hands thoroughly and rolling up their sleeves to begin the peeling, chopping and mixing needed for their chosen foods. Well done to all our mini-chefs!
The red kitchen team were representing the continent of Europe with the Greek dip tsatsiki, which we served with some pita breads for dunking. The blue kitchen made some butter bean patties akin to falafel filled with traditional North African herbs and spices. The purple kitchen put together some Mexican inspired quesadillas. And the green kitchen peeled and chopped a selection of exotic fruits to produce a Thai-inspired fruit salad.
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to our event and spent time in Reception with children trying some of the foods and exploring some of the things we have learned this term. It was lovely to see so many of you support the event and share in our learning journey – and we were very fortunate to enjoy and afternoon of sunshine too!
We hope you all have a lovely break and we’ll be back to school in April with our new topic – “Let It Grow!”
