EYFS – Forest School – 21.5.26
What a wonderful morning we have had outside at Forest School despite the squelchy and damp conditions to begin with! Pupils had the entire area to explore and play in and loved spending time in the different areas of provision which included creating in the tuff trays, role-playing in the sandpit and mud kitchen and learning to take turns and keep themselves and each other safe on our Forest School swings. Children could also recap some previous learning around den building where teams had to create dens out of sticks and tarps to keep them and their group dry from any further rain. Pupils also had the opportunity to visit the school garden area where they compared the growth of plants from the last time they visited a couple of weeks ago and noticed things that had changed with the seasons, such as the lack of blossom and the growth of leaves on the trees and hedges. Pupils learnt the art of mindfulness breathing and tuned into nature and the natural environment around them. In the canopy, there was a fire where children could come and cook corn kernels to create popcorn which was thoroughly enjoyed as a warm snack. Finally, children also had the opportunity to learn more about Nigel – our school goat. We learnt how old he is, why his eyes are a different shape to ours and how to walk him around our field – as well as scooping up his poo – which the children found equally as fun as walking Nigel!
