EYFS – National Apple Day – Forest School
What a fun morning we’ve had at Forest School in Reception! To round off our school’s celebrations on harvest and National Apple Day (held annually on 21st October), children in EYFS had apple themed activities to take part in outside. First of all, children took turns in playing a traditional autumn game – bobbing for apples! After listening carefully to the rules and how to play, children took turns in playing against each other – and the teachers – to grab the apple the quickest. We had so much fun and learnt that taking part is the most important element in games! In the canopy, children helped Mr Gamble and Mr Verdi light and maintain a fire as well as cutting up apples to roast over the fire using skewers. All of the pupils were super sensible and safe around the fire and enjoyed a delicious roasted apple snack. Finally, children also had the chance to show off their amazing teamwork by constructing dens using our den building sticks. They communicated, problem solved and listened well to each to create some wonderful structures. Well done EYFS!
