EYFS Newsletter – 01/10/21

It’s been another full and fun-packed time in Reception class this week. The children are clearly growing in confidence and showing a great interest in the class topic of Traditional Tales. This week our story has been The Three Little Pigs, and the children have loved exploring the various provision around this tale: investigating house building materials in the DT area, acting out the story in the small-world area and dressing up as the different characters.

In Phonics this week our family groups have been exploring how to hear and recognise different sounds in words. The children have also been showing off their fantastic pen and pencil control by  practising lots of different patterns.

Maths this week found our groups investigating patterns and spotting similarities and differences.

The highlight of our week was Thursday’s Forest School session, which found us out in the school garden and field. The children worked together amazingly to construct houses for The Three Little Pigs. Not only did these houses stand up to the wrath of the Big Bad Wolf, but they also stood up to the wild wind and rain! We all enjoyed getting to know our school animals too – with many children choosing to help feed the chickens and rabbits.

NEXT WEEK: Tuesday (05/10/21)  is P.E. day for Reception Class. Please can children arrive at school dressed in their P.E. kit colours (though still with weather-appropriate coats/wellies etc. as it’s looking like another unsettled week).

Have a fantastic weekend!
