Happy New Year!

What a busy first week back it has been in reception.

In Phonics we have revisited our learning from before the holidays and practised reading and writing CVC words using phase 2 phonemes. Some children even took up the challenge of reading and writing whole sentences!

In Maths we have looked at the number zero. We have investigated what it means with lots of counting activities, matching puzzles and even a game of hide and seek!

The children chose ‘Animals’ as our topic for this half term and we have started with the theme of pets. The role play vets surgery has been very popular and all of the animal teddies have been made to feel a lot better. On Friday we had a big surprise as we had the arrival of our new class pet, a hamster! We have a problem though, he does not yet have a name. The children in reception have been given the challenge to think of lots of different ideas for what to call him over the weekend ready to share on Monday.

We hope you have a lovely weekend!
