EYFS – Newsletter – 17/03/23

This week in reception has been a little different but we have certainly packed a lot into our three days!

In Phonics we have been started recapping different phase 3 phonemes. The children have worked really hard and impressed all of the staff with their writing. We have been focussing on reading and writing sentences an many children are now attempting these with a decreasing amount of adult support. Outside, the children were challenged to recognise a selection of different tricky words and verbally use them in sentences.

In maths this week we have been learning about 3D shapes. We have discussed their names, properties and every day objects we can use as examples for them. The children did a great job sorting the shapes and comparing their properties. We also investigated how the properties of different shapes effect how well they roll using ramps outside.

Elsewhere in the classroom, the children have enjoyed playing in our new home corner,  making cards for Mothers Day and drawing pictures of churches after talking about buildings in our local area.

The next week it will be PE on Tuesday.

Diary dates;

  • Early writing workshop – Wednesday 22nd March, 5pm
  • Last day of term – Thursday 30th March
