EYFS Newsletter – 18.07.2025

Well we have had a wonderful week to end a fantastic year in Reception!

Our week began with a a bouncing good time on the field as we enjoyed Inflatable Day with lots of bouncy castle and slide fun before some team games and even a bit of frisbee and axe throwing!

We have kept our brains ticking over this week with some fun maths and phonics challenges. Each child has been completing a booklet to practise and recap their learning from this year and we hope they have enjoyed these challenges.

Thank you to everyone that was able to join us on Wednesday for our end of year celebration. The children very much enjoyed the chance to share all the fun of Reception with you and to share some of their learning. On Wednesday, we also enjoyed a rehearsal of the Year 6 leavers show, which was lots of fun – especially seeing Mr Verdi splatted in the face!

Sadly on Wednesday we also bid farewell to Mrs Arnott who is leaving Cookridge this Summer. Mrs Arnott has been an invaluable part of the Reception team for many years and has taught hundreds of children through the years. She will be sorely missed and we hope she will keep in touch!

The children have just relished spending time together in the sunshine (and the rain – see puddle jumping photos below!)  this week and making memories with their friends before the big summer break. We are so very proud of them all and have loved getting to know them all so well this year. We wish all the children the best of luck in Year 1 and we shall be sure to keep popping in to say hello once they are in their new classes. 

As a nice way to wrap up the year (before our party games and dancing began!) we asked everyone to draw a self-portrait which we were then able to compare with the self-portrait each child drew at the start of the year. It is a lovely way to see just how far the children have come over the course of this year – and a nice keepsake of their time in Reception.

Thank you once again to all the families for our amazingly generous gifts – we really appreciate it! And thank you for your lovely cards and kind words – we are very privileged to help your children settle into school life and see them grow in confidence and skills throughout the year.
