EYFS Newsletter – 20/05/2022

Reception have had a great week this week and really enjoyed the sunshine!

In Phonics this week we have acted out the story of ‘Megs Eggs’ by Helen Nicoll and Jan Pienkowski. The children demonstrated their understanding of the story creating narratives using their own words and recently introduced vocabulary. Inside, we read a story about a trip to the vets and practised reading and writing sentences about this.

In Maths, we have been looking at subtraction. We have learnt different techniques to answer questions and noticed that when subtracting the number gets smaller. With support, the children learnt to count back on a number line, solve number sentences using their fingers and work with a partner to write a number sentence to show how many bricks were knocked down in a game of bowling.
