EYFS Newsletter – 22.04.22

We’ve had a glorious sunny start to our Summer Term this week – let’s hope it continues! All the children are enjoying exploring our new Dinosaur topic and have helped come up with some ideas of their own for the coming weeks.

In Phonics we are revisiting the previous learning and applying it to read and write sentences. One day was spent acting out the story of Dinosaur Farm by Frann Preston-Gannon with children taking on the role of the farmer going about his day looking after the dinosaurs.

In Maths, we have been continuing to build on the children’s knowledge and understanding of number by looking at numbers past ten up to twenty. The children have explored these numbers by using tens frames and numicon.

We’ve also enjoyed getting outside in the sun this week, with children helping to clean the pond and going on nature hunts. There have also been a variety of dinosaur related activities for the children to get stuck into inside and out with lots of great ideas coming from the children themselves!

Next week it is Forest Schools on Thursday 28th April. As always please can children come dressed suitably for being outdoors for much of the day (though hopefully that means sun hats and suncream rather than wellies and scarves!).

Have a lovely weekend!
