KS1 – Animal Homes – Forest School
Today in Forest School, pupils in Classes 1,2 and 3 have enjoyed learning about animal habitats and the needs of living things. To begin with, children recapped their learning from their previous session with Mr Gamble on loose parts. They took part in a number of fun challenges in the Forest School area which tested their knowledge and understanding of loose parts. Next, children were tasked with creating a home for an animal who didn’t have any where to live. Pupils discussed why this might be and we had some interesting and thoughtful ideas from climate change to pollution and natural disasters. Finally, children organsied themselves into groups and used natural materials and loose parts to create a variety of homes for the animals which had doors, windows, rooms, beds and food stores. Some even included exercise rooms – to help the animal stay healthy- and secret exits so they could escape predators. Well done KS1!
