KS1 – Fire Lighting and Play – Forest School
KS1 pupils revisited a session they did before half-term to ensure skills can be embedded. Children were able to explore and engage in a number of creative play activities using different areas of the school garden. Children could use the mud kitchen to make delicious meals, explore the loose parts in the tough tray to make items using their imaginations, play in the sandpit where we had some marvellous rivers, castles and underground worlds – as well as being challenged to recreate Bridlington from our trip yesterday – or use the tree house and swings to engage in physical, outdoor fun. The final challenge was in the fire pit where pupils could revisit the skill of fire lighting by using a flint and steel to make a spark. Children explained the safety aspects to be aware of and follow and modelled how to use a flint before moving onto setting cotton wool on fire all by themselves! Well done on a challenging, creative and fun outdoor day KS1!
