KS1 – National Popcorn Day – Forest School
Last week, it was National Popcorn Day so what better way for KS1 to spend their nearest Forest School session to the day by making a fire to cook popcorn on! Children used fire safety gloves to help feed the fire to maintain its heat and size and learnt about being safe around an open fire. Pupils also used the popcorn pan to heat oil and the corn kernels until they popped – looking and listening for sizzling, popping and the yellow kernels turning into white popcorn. Children could also choose to make dens using our den building sticks, play games in the trees, visit the mud kitchen to create their own popcorn inspired snack or play games to stay warm. Well done KS1 on a cold, windy day and the warm, fresh popcorn certainly went down a treat!
