KS1 – Newletter – 20.9.19

Happy Christmas everyone!

Despite it being the festive season, we have still been working hard in Key stage 1.

In maths we have all been working on shape. Identifying which shape is which and recognising the properties of shape. We are getting much better at labelling the number of sides and vertices of each shape.

Year 2 have been working hard

on their reading comprehensions. We had a variety of texts and different styles of questions to answer. We were great detectives knowing what we needed to look for within the question and then being able to find the evidence to answer the question.

In class we were amazed for how good the children were at sewing! They each created their own bauble to hang on the tree and did a fantastic job.

It was Mr Morgan’s Big Birthday on Thursday and we had great fun celebrating with him and some of the children who shared his birthday, by having fun and games in the hall together. It was also our Christmas dinner day, so we all went home well and truly full!

We have all been reading the nativity story and recognising who the main characters were, what they did and what gifts were brought for the baby Jesus.

In PHSE we have all finished our topic of ‘Keeping safe’ We have been looking at lots of different aspects of being safe, from knowing what hazards there could be in the home, to crossing the road and recognising key people who could help us.

We have loved this term with your children and hope that you and they have lots of fun over the holidays and a well deserved rest. We will see you in January, when the children return to school on TUESDAY 7th.
