KS1 – Newsletter – 12.07.19

What a busy and exciting week in KS1!

Everyone was extremely excited to meet their new teacher and spend the week in their new classroom!

We have started each morning playing ‘getting to know you’ games and we have learnt lots of new things about our friends and teachers. In English, we have started looking at the Mr Men and Little Miss Characters. We have designed, drawn and painted our very own Mr Men characters using the stories as inspiration.

Monday afternoon was so sunny we decided to go to the field and have our own mini sports day a practice before the real thing next week. We each had a go at the races and had lots of fun jumping over the hurdles whilst balancing a bean bag on our head. It was challenging but we all had a go!

On Wednesday afternoon, KS1 went up to forest schools. Mrs Koopman made a fire in the pit for us all to sit around and we listened to lots of silly stories and sang campfire songs. Why don’t you try challenging your child to the “Iger flyger song”?!

Thursday was a Science day we focused on plastic pollution and how dangerous it is for the animals. We thought about a time we have found rubbish floating in the ocean or on the beach and created a poster trying to encourage people to recycle, throw their rubbish away, use less plastic or pick up rubbish if they find it. It was very interesting and we know this message is very important.

We have really enjoyed hanging out and learning in our new classes. It has made everyone very excited for next year!
