KS1 – Newsletter – 6.12.19

With the arrival of advent, we also saw the arrival of four cheeky elves into Key Stage one this week. They have been up to all kinds of mischief and mayhem, giving us good opportunities to write about them and what they have been up to.

Christmas is fast approaching us in Key stage one and our rehearsals for the Christmas play are in full swing. If your child has any lines, please practise with them at home, so that they know what they are saying and  feel confident about saying them. We can’t wait for you to hear our amazing singing when you come to watch the show on Wednesday 11th December at 2pm.

Please could all children bring in a Christmas hat or headband, either bought or homemade, by Monday for their class song.

Year 1 have been exploring shapes this week. Naming them, drawing them and finding them around the classroom. Have a look and see what shapes you can spot together at home.

In DT we have been thinking about and designing bridges. We looked at various designs and chose the one we’d like to build. We then thought about the materials we would like to make them with. After that, we worked together to actually make the bridges we had designed, using a variety of materials and then tested them to see which ones were the strongest and most stable.

Year 2 have continued their topic of ‘Keeping Safe’ in PHSE. This week, we have been thinking about rules that keep us safe when we are out and about. We have been learning about safe and unsafe places to cross the road and the major rules for how to cross the road.

Dates for your diary: Community and Grandparents event on Monday 9th December at 10am.
