Year 2 have really enjoyed getting stuck into their new phonics sounds these past few weeks. We have looked at ‘y’ saying ‘igh’ and ‘dge’ and ‘ge’ saying ‘j’. We have played games and completed challenges to help us read and write lots of words containing these sounds.
Alongside this Year 2 have been enjoying reading lots of books, matching the blurb to the stories, reading ‘speed dating’ and much more to gain an understanding that the words in the text have information that we can find and use to help us answer questions.
