Year 3 – Class 4 & 5 – English

This week in English, we started our new genre of writing which is a balanced argument. We asked the question, ‘Did Armley Mills have a positive impact on people’s lives?’

To start with, looked at the positive and negatives of Armley Mills such it provided job opportunities, it was dangerous and the working conditions were poor. The children sorted the statements into positive and negative and discussed them as a group. We then had a debate to answer the question. The children had a great time debating and really got involved with the discussion.
