LKS2 – Class 5 – Our Planet

This morning, Class 5 continued our learning through the ‘Rethink Food’ program, which focuses on sustainability and the environment. In today’s sessions, the children learned about the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. These are 17 goals set by the UN, which are an urgent call to action for all countries to tackle problems such as climate change, poverty and social inequalities. We played a game of Bingo which enabled us to familiarise ourselves with the goals, then had a more detailed discussion about some of the goals we knew less about. In groups, the children created a ‘priority pyramid’, reflecting which goals they felt were the most important. After break, each group chose one goal they wanted to learn more about. Using iPads, laptops and information sheets they created a mind map showing everything they learned about the importance of the goal and what it aims to achieve.
