For the first few days back at school, we looked over our year 3 place value objective to consolidate our understanding of 3 digit numbers before moving onto 4 digit numbers. We looked at making our own 3 digit numbers using base 10/ place value counters and place value charts. We used language surrounding the topic such as Hundreds, Tens, Ones, value, number and digit and observed the fact you can make 100 out of tens and 10 out of ones. We then strengthened our knowledge by answering questions surrounding 3 digit numbers shown in various ways (words, expanded forms and part-whole models).
