LKS2 – Garden Day – Forest School – 15/10/26
LKS2 pupils have had an extremely busy day in our school garden area! Following their sessions from Grow2School over the past 13 months, pupils used their skills for a variety of tasks to transform different areas of the garden from Summer plantings and crops, to Autumn/Winter ones. This included harvesting carrots, leeks, tomatoes, peppers and squash plants before adding a layer of compost for mulch and planting broad bean seeds and garlic cloves. Children also weeded the beds, turned compost piles and began new ones using this year’s leaves and weeded and mulched the blackcurrant bushes planted in the Spring. There was even time to squeeze in planting some new redcurrant bushes so they can develop their roots over the winter before growing on strong next year – weather depending! Hopefully all the children will sleep well tonight after a hard day’s work!
