LKS2 Newsletter 2/2/21

Good morning from all the LKS2 staff!

It’s another beautiful, snowy day in Leeds…we hope you all enjoy yourselves in the snow, and stay safe and warm! Please send us pictures if you do anything fun today – snowmen, snowball fights, snow angels, sledging….we would love to see what you’re getting up to. Kazaf has already sent in a wonderful drawing of a snowman he’s done this morning:

It has been another brilliant week, with children working hard both in school and at home. As ever, we have been bowled over by the enthusiasm and resilience of the children in LKS2. From baking sweet treats to writing penguin fact files, you have all been very busy!

If you haven’t seen the results of our LKS2 Bake Off Competition, have a look at these three winning cakes from Cerian, Ami and Tyler:

We were so impressed with all the entries, so well done to everyone who took part!

Last week’s English task was focused around researching penguins, and writing a factfile. The children in Y3 and Y4 found out some wonderful facts, and came up with some very creative ways of presenting them:

We’ve also received some fantastic pieces of art work based on the lessons with Mrs Ledder:

Mental Health Week

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week. Looking after our mental health is just as important as looking after our physical health, but this can be a challenge – especially in lockdown. For more information on Mental Health Week and for some ideas of wellbeing activities, have a look at these two links:

Bird feeder competition

This week’s well-being challenge for the whole school is linked to the RSPB Great Birds Birdwatch- sign up on the link below:

https://www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/birdwatch/

The challenge is to create your own bird feeder to encourage birds into your garden. Be creative,  recycle and give the birds a treat.

OR send in a photograph of a bird you have spotted.  Bonus points if you get a picture of a bird on your feeder!

As always, please get in touch to share what you have been up to, or to ask any questions, on our email address lowerkeystage@cookridgeprimaryschool.org.uk

Stay safe and enjoy the snow!
