LKS2 – Science: Sound – 12.01.26

Last week in Science, we started our new topic of, ‘Sound’ and we looked at what sound is. We learned that sound is created when objects cause a vibration. We discussed some of the ways that objects can create sound such as plucking, banging and scraping. Then, we went on walk around the school to see what sounds we could hear and what was creating those sounds. We heard clapping, created by hands clapping, music, created by mechanical motion and lots of talking, created by vocal chords rubbing together.

This week, we applied our learning to create a music instrument. We had lots of recyclable materials and, in teams, we designed an instrument. We thought carefully about how we can create different volumes and pitches with our instruments.
