LKS2 – Tools – Forest School
Today pupils in LKS2 got to explore the range of tools we have in Forest School. After learning their names and purpose, children were given a safety talk and demonstration before being able to choose which ones to practice with. Pupils could choose from bow saws, whittling knives, secateurs, loppers, palm drills and bill hooks. They experimented with different types of wood and sticks to understand which tool was suited to the task they wanted to perform. This exploration of the tools helped them understand and develop their knowledge of what tool was the correct one for what they wanted but also understanding purpose and outcomes. This knowledge will be put to the test over the coming weeks as we aim to craft some items out of wood using the range of tools we have.
