LKS2 – Viking Skills – Forest School – 18.6.26
Today in their Forest School sessions, pupils in LKS2 had the last opportunity to practice their Viking skills before our Viking days next week. Children could recap previous skills we have been learning since half-term such as fire lighting, using tools to cut up firewood and how to weave, braid and plait. The children, whether working independently, in a pair or as part of a larger group, had to draw on lots of problem-solving skills which required resilience, teamwork and effective communication. As a new skill, pupils were challenged with creating a Viking longhouse using den building sticks, tarps and rope. Teams had to decide carefully how to construct it, where to strengthen the building and think about practicalities, including keeping it waterproof and where the door would be. An excellent day and they all showed they are ready for our Viking days next week – well done LKS2.
