Y3 – Writing : Oracy, Y4 – Writing : Oracy

Yesterday in English, the children took part in some role play to help inspire their next piece of writing which is a diary entry on mummification. They children took part in three activities which link with the steps of mummification. One activity was to remove the organs, such as the liver, brain and intestine, from the body with the tools provided. The children were asked to describe the experience using their senses and also how they felt. The next activity was to wrap the body. Children used toilet paper to wrap each other up and used verbs and adverbs to describe the process of wrapping. Finally, the children designed a burial mask for their mummy. The kids really enjoyed the experience of mummification and have lots to talk about in their diary.
