Reception – Forest School 12.3.26

What a blustery morning we have had at Forest School! However, it didn’t stop the children having a great time outdoors where they completed lots of different activities. Pupils could lead their own learning in our Forest School area as they chose to build dens using sticks and tarps, create meals in the mud kitchen or play in the trees and on our swings. Children also revisited our learning from last week which was all about signs of Spring. Independently, children used the Spring checklist to conduct their own Spring Hunts around the grounds and could spot lots of things from their lists without the need of an adult – well done! Finally, children also had the opportunity to link in some of their work from the classroom to do with their mapping skills. Children could make a compass using clay and loose parts where they had to mould their clay into a shape, before adding the compass points and decorating it. Children could also use a map to locate hidden blocks around the field. Each block had a letter on it which spelled one of their words from phonics – could they use the map to work it out? Of course they could! Well done Reception on an excellent morning!
