UKS2 – Exploring Patterns and Textures in Mark Making – Art – 14.9.26
In UKS2, the children have been exploring the many different ways artists use marks to bring their artwork to life. Taking inspiration from existing drawings and artwork, they looked closely at how artists use lines, dots, smudges, hatching and textures to create different effects and feelings. The children experimented with a variety of drawing techniques and movements, discovering how changing the way they made a mark could transform their artwork. They recorded their favourite marks and ideas in their sketchbooks, building a collection of techniques to inspire their own creative work. They also developed their use of art vocabulary, confidently describing the different marks they discovered and created.
